ASHRAE Honors Krueger Engineer as New Fellow
Richardson, Texas | January 19, 2008
NEW YORK CITY - The American Society of Heating, Refrigerating and Air-Conditioning Engineers (ASHRAE) elevated Daniel Int-Hout III to the grade of Fellow at the Society’s 2008 Winter Meeting held Jan. 19-23.
Fellow ASHRAE is a membership grade that recognizes distinction in the arts and sciences of heating, ventilating, air conditioning or refrigeration and is earned through achievement as a researcher, designer, educator or engineering executive. Approximately 500 of ASHRAE’s 50,000 members are Fellows.
Int-Hout is chief engineer, Krueger, Richardson, Texas. He has made exceptional contributions in the field of room air distribution and product development. Int-Hout pioneered research in overhead heating. His recommendations for the 1979 ASHRAE Handbook have continued through the latest Standard 62.1 air change effectiveness requirements.
He also helped develop the first Omni-Directional Anemometer, which serves as the basis of all current room air motion studies. In 2006, Int-Hout was awarded a patent for the design of a low-cost, multiple-input electric heater controller for variable air volume (VAV) terminals, providing time-proportional discharge temperature controlled supplemental heat for VAV terminals. A significant part of his work has included dissemination of his knowledge with papers on VAV system performance, acoustics, air diffusion, controls and occupant comfort.
ASHRAE, founded in 1894, is an international organization of 50,000 persons. Its sole objective is to advance through research, standards writing, publishing and continuing education the arts and sciences of heating, ventilation, air conditioning and refrigeration to serve the evolving needs of the public.
